With my two-dimensional works, I have been focusing for some time on collage, which is a fascinating technique especially because it gives so much freedom for imagination and association. The prerequisite is a large collection of collage material. Old magazines and journals are a treasure trove of coloured surfaces, graphic patterns and text structures. I like the idea of recycling those normally very short-lived materials that would go to the bin otherwise. They can be used in new combinations to create expressive images. I add acrylic paints, and sometimes mediums like ink and charcoal to my canvases that gently connect or emphasise the collage material applied to the canvas in the composition.
